A Conversation with Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta

On twenty years of practice, failure, and what comes next

Twenty years after founding Studio Drift, Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta sat down with the museum’s editorial team to talk through the studio’s early failures, its slow shift from product design into large-scale installation, and what a museum entirely devoted to their work means to them.

“The hardest thing was learning to let a piece take as long as it needed,” Gordijn says. “Fragile Future took years before it worked the way we imagined it.”

The full conversation continues in the Auditorium as part of the ongoing talks programme, with excerpts published here in the weeks around each opening.
